81 t/a with 350tpi

Hello everyone.
Ive been reading this board for a while but havent found answer for my question.
I have an 81 trans am which originally came with 4.9turbo. Well I got it last summer and it's last owner had swapped 350tpi into it and some cam (dunno which). It has th700 and 10 bolt rear.
Few months ago i got hooker super competition headers and new suspensions.
It's awesome to ride and i love the torque but afterall its quite slow.
My question is, would stealth ram fit under the hood? any ideas? If so, thats next thing on list and then I'd probably get a new cam. Some pro gets to tune once its done.

I'd really appreciate if someone could answer my question. If needed, i'll post pictures of it or something.

Sounds like a nice ride. Someone should chime in soon with the difference in measurements (height wise) of the stock TPI and HSR, however post up some pics so we can get an idea.

Okay I took some pics.
Just to show off

Under hood

On last pic I put an empty Autoglym metal polish packet on top of intake and closed hood. The box wasnt crushed which means it has atleast 4cm (1.6 inches ?) available space.

Re: 81 t/a with 350tpi

Okay so I measured the tpi intake and hsr should fit

I wonder what kind of hp gain im looking at with hsr and new cam (LT4 hot cam? what you suggest?) and proper tuning? Is any of this worth it without new heads? or porting old ones? New cam is needed quite sure someday and I live in Finland so I have to consider shipping fees.

anyways, ordering hsr will delay a little due to im atm tight on money + I get to garage every second weekend only

Last edited by H8R; Sep 27, 2011 at 07:54 AM. Reason: new cam??
