Can't stand on it... :o

I'm having issues with the 350/700R4 that I dropped into my 91. It runs like a beast when it first starts up, but after it gets to temperature, it doesn't want to climb above 2500 RPM. Just hovers there. It seems to idle and rev just fine. Doesn't try and die, just doesn't go above 2500 RPM when I'm rolling down the road (warm).

Any thoughts on what this could be? Like I said, I can break the wheels loose easy when it's cool.

Thanks for the input...

Re: Can't stand on it... :o

Very happy to report that it was nothing more than the timing. My initial timing was about 6 degrees retarded. Set it to 6* BTDC, reconnected the advance and had a buddy rev it to about 3000. It was fluxuating between 34 and 36* BTDC. Does this seem about right? I'm still feeling some hesitation when I go to WOT from a dead stop (not standing on breaks).

If anyone has any ideas on what the hesitation could come from, please let me know. AFAIK, the only mods are 24lbs. fuel injectors. I'm starting a new discussion on that one though.

Thanks,

I see in your sig that your running 24lbs injectors. Did you get a chip burned for it? Stock 350 prom is setup for 21lbs injectors. If you are running bigger injectors it could throw it off.

No, I haven't yet. I was thinking that could be the issue as well. The last owner of the engine/trans had installed them and gave them to me with the package. I'm fairly certain the PROM I got from him was stock though. I'm planning on purchasing the Moates setup for this car, but I'm not sure when that will be.

Could anyone suggest someone around KC that could make quick work of this. I'm not sure if it would take several burns or if this type of change is nothing more than a setting in the program. Any advice would be great.

Thanks.

I would say get a set of 21lbs injectors or get a chip burned. Its going to be running very rich and could cause your running issues. Do you get black smoke when you step on it?

Well, I haven't really been able to tell with all of the smoke coming off of the tires. I'll have my buddy go back and check.

Checked the plugs... looks like they could be getting fouled up. I have another set I'll throw in after I get the chip burned.
