Re: TBI TO TPI CONVERSION
Trying to resume this forum as I am now doing this conversion. I have a 92 RS, got a TPI system out of a 90iroc. Everything is installed. However the car won’t start. No crank and no interior lights. Any help is appreciated for those that still remember?

I would like to mention it was noticed that the dash harness is a little different. It plugs into the ecm but a few wire colors don’t match.

Re: TBI TO TPI CONVERSION
Going from TBI to TPI, I would expect the ECU (at least the prom) and the wiring harness to be different.
I have some info on my website. https://sites.google.com/site/darbys...tpi-conversion The TPI handbook has the pin-outs for the ECM. I also have a wiring spreadsheet there that shows the pin-outs of the C205 connector from the instrument panel to the ECM. Could be an issue there too.
Lastly, VATS would likely need to be disabled in the TPI Prom. Needed to do this for my installation. Not sure about yours, since your TBI might have had VATS too, but even so I would suspect difficulties, since that was the theft control of the day.

Re: TBI TO TPI CONVERSION
The vats from the 92 should still be operational if it was on the tbi. Nothing to change iirc.
The speedo uses a buffer box on the tbi so you need to bypass that and go straight through the ecm for that.

Re: TBI TO TPI CONVERSION
Thank you all for the support. The car is up and running. We did not bypasss the buffer box yet so I still don’t have a Speedo. We also did have issues with the VATS system. A lot of hiccups in the process but finally am there. Thank you again.

Re: TBI TO TPI CONVERSION
It's a bright yellow box near the ecm. Wires from that harness need to go directly over to it.
