Rough running and Acceleration

So the intake gasket replace was a success as well as re-timing (correctly) thank you to all who helped!!!

An on going problem now is the car runs rough! It idles rough and anything under 2000 rpm is shakey on acceleration not to mention i went from 18MPG to barely 13 YIKES. I been looking for a vac line thats broken or off but no luck. Anyone out there that has any other ideas or has had this happen shout out please... No check engine light either or stored codes not setting it off...

On another note,

As i was going along trying to figure this all out i removed the cats air tube and all cut it at the straight under the pass side, thinking the same happened to my wifes car it clogged and burnt out her trans it ran so bad... I know its been asked before but just a quick pro/con on it would that be causing my issues from the lack of back pressure? I remember someone saying it can effect performance but how about general running ect... I plan on replacing the complete exh system this weekend but need to know should i put HF cats back on?

Any info will help thanks in advance,
Danny

It's probably not from the cats, and yes i would put the cats back on. Try spraying your intake and the area around it with some carb cleaner and see if you have leaks from around your intake gaskets.Did you use RTV to seal the china walls? (front and back of the intake)

Re: Rough running and Acceleration

Tried spraying so far smooth as a babys bottom, no change even a twitch going to try to find a long straw or make one and really pinpoint stuff... I used rtv on everything! Lol on the lower section gaskets and in the center front and back watched it push out nice and even couldnt have been nicer when it oozed out...

I been wondering if i am off a tooth... How fun!

Keep it comming,
Danny

Re: Rough running and Acceleration

I don't use rtv on gaskets for the TPI. I use Pam cooking spray. You can reuse the gaskets this way, incase you need to remove stuff to fix uh, stuff.
It saves some time and money.
