Car: 1988 TRANS AM procharged
Engine: 305 procharged TPI with 5 speed
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: 3:73
loosing air and smog pump. is that ok
just like the title says... i have a 88 trans am with a 305 tpi witha 5 speed.. i no longer want to have air because i have t tops and the air doesnt work that good anymore.. i would replace the pump with a pulley and the next questions is i also want to get rid of the smog pump because we have no emission laws where im at... the biggest questions i have is can i do this without making my car run like butt.. or is there a way to do this without hurting my performance or the way my car runs... i hreally also dont like how it looks under my hood on the pass side due to all the xtra crap they stuffed in there.. please help so i know if i shoud pull it or not.. thank you very much

Removing the AC system will usually cause your cooling fan to run until you jump the pressure switch that is on one of the aluminum AC lines.
Your CAT may not live very long after you remove the AIR system.
Don't forget to address that at some point, though it's not an emergency or anything.
Your closed-loop function uses an O2 sensor offset for certain modes of the AIR system operation. Without the AIR, you might notice very small changes in your cold-start or idle, but it is normally not very noticeable.
As long as you're getting rid of stuff you might consider swapping to an S10 manual steering box. You may then be able to configure your belt so that you don't need the extra delete pulley, and run a much shorter belt.

well the good news is i dont use the stock fan set up so thats not an issue as for the cat thats not going to be there much longer after i take it off..thank you for all the information. when i go to tkae the stuff out i will repost if i have any issues.
