you can get used L-98s from a vette salvage yard in Bristol P.A.; Contemporary Corvette. or you could get really any vette engine from those guys.
you could probably get a block from them if you ask.
as for 300 hp, i would say small heads are out of the question given that the CR is already 9:1. maybe a LP turbo? i would ask around the power adder forums as well.

well i really wanted to get vortec heads...eldelbrock tpi set up...hydrolic cam...headers..etc...i actually called the guy(link i posted above) he claims his engine could make 300 hp...im up in the air as what to do...cuz it would cost the same to build it from block up...but then id have to find someone to do

better heads are fine but if you get significantly smaller heads to increase the compression to say 10:1 or 11:1 your engine will explode, or require really high octane gas.Originally Posted by User Error 87

smaller heads? you mean smaller combustion chambers, for example a stock 350 tpi has 64cc heads and a 305 tpi has 58cc. Putting the 58cc on the 350 will increase compression. Now the intake runner on the heads is important too, a 200cc runner will want to make power higher in the rpm range and a 170 or 165 cc runner would make great low end torque. A 200cc head would require a higher flowing intake like a HSR and a big cam to take advantage of the big head flow.Normally if you put 305/58cc heads on a 350 it would require higher octane gas and or ping a lot,but he could run the 58 cc vette 350 tpi heads (the 113 heads)on his 350 and it would be fine cause they are aluminum.Originally Posted by T/A
