i have a 1988 top end(intake,tpi,that stuff) and a 98 bottom end with a 700r4 tranny. The trany is not shifting in drive so I figure the trany is bad ,So If I replace trany should I use the same model transmission ? or should i get a different tranny. i just bought the car and the trannys grabbing in first and second but not in drive.what should i do. buy new tranny,what kind? or is there anything i can check that could cause this? i tried the tv cable, no shift solenooids, and stuff like that. help me out please
