Code 24 after swap

So I took my car for a long drive today since I've worked most of the bugs out of my new motor. Got a code 24, VSS sensor code, but its got me stumped since my car never had a VSS or electronic speedometer. I swapped from an auto to a T-5 when I rebuilt the L-98 and haven't had any other issues. What could this be and is there a way to get rid of this code?

I don't have the speedometer hooked up as I've had to order the mechanical sending unit for this T-5 since it had an electronic speedo. Does a mechanical speedo still talk to the computer some how? This car has had me stumped in so many ways with all the little bugs I've had to deal with. Adjusting the TPS sensor, IAC sensor, timing, etc... trying to learn how all this stuff works.

You have your answer there
The computer is expecting a speed signal (VSS ) from somewhere so it knows how fast the car is going
( in your car from the speedo driven by the cable , not a VSS unit in the trans )
and it is not receiving it so you have the code up
