whoops, wrong MAF ?
hey guys, i plugged in a spare MAF sensor i have to try and cure the cars bad running issues and it worked after about 5 minutes, the first little drive i had, the car was exactly the same and ran crap, but i stopped at home, and when i came back out to the car and set off, it was running like a dream, all the power was back !! maybe that was just the ECU relearing stuff first ?
then i stopped to put petrol in, and put some shell v-power fuel in for the first time ever and when i set off from the petrol station, it was running really crap for about 10 minutes, so i dont think the car likes V-power petrol !
anyway, i kept driving it around and it seemed to clear itself up while i was out, however ive now got a code 33 that wasnt there before.
im just wondering if the MAF sensor ive used isnt supposed to be on my car, the serial numbers on the MAF's are different so im wondering if this is whats causing my code 33 ? i think the MAF ive got on there now came off an 88 with a 5.7 TPI, and mines an 87 with a 5.0 TPI

Re: whoops, wrong MAF ?
The Maf you used is fine for your car, there is no difference between a 5.0 and a 5.7 Maf sensor. The code 33 could be set off from a number of problems such as a bad Maf sensor, or Maf relay, or Maf burn off relay, or a vacuum leak. Check on this board under code 33 and you will find a whole host of information. Good luck

ah right, thanks man, i previously only had the code 36 because ive recently checked my MAF burnoff relay wiring and its all shot to hell, so i know the burnoff function isnt working so ive got both codes.
so would the maf burnoff code also produce the code 33 for the MAF too ?
Ive never checked vacuum leaks before, ive got no idea how to do that or where the lines are
