Code 24 VSS Error on and off and is bugging me!!!
Code 24 VSS Error on and off and is bugging me!!!
I need some help to figure this one out.
This is what I have. I have a TPI system that is throwing a Code 24 VSS Error. I didn’t have the error before with my old EPROM chip that has the VSS disabled, but I want the Highway mode so I bought a new chip that had the VSS enabled and put it in the same ECU. It runs the computer alright and all, but on occasion it will throw the check engine light, I had my OBDII read at hand when it did and it said Code 24 error. Then it will go off within a few seconds. I went through the wiring and made sure the ignition wire was separated from all other wires. This last weekend I was driving around 30 mph up and down hills and it came on and then I would speed up and it go off and then a little while later again it did the same thing, 4 times total. But it seemed like every time it happened it was at low 1200-1600 RPM and then go off within 10-30 seconds with a little rev and little more torque on the engine. Has me stumped. Doesn’t seem like it affects engine performance at all, sounds like it always does. Just the light coming on and off is starting to annoy me!!!
Any thoughts?

Well the vss sensor is behind the speedo cluster

I am actually using a VDO electro speedo that you can adjust. I am using a Hall Effect 16K PPM sensor and a Dakota Digital SGI-5 convertor box to provide a signal to the speedo and to the ECU.
So my VSS is not actually behind the speedo
