I need some help and suggestions!!!
first off lets start off saying moderators please let this thread stay. i am not referring anyone to a new forum i just need some help and suggestions and cannot move my thread from a different forum to this one. please dont remove this.
if anyone will please go to lt1ls1.com and search for the thread (about to be new 89 T/A owner) without the parentheses of course. go and please read my thread and tell me what you guys think about it. i came here cuz i was and am a member of that forum and this one also but i was suggested i come here for answers because lt1ls1.com is not big on the 3rd gens.... so please go look and tell me what yall think..you do not have to sign up to them to read a thread. moderators i can not upload the pics and other things in my thread from lt1ls1.com or i would not be asking you to let this thread stay.

Being a new member and sticking it up long term members on a forum doesn't go down well as you found out.
Because these are open public forums you will get many differing opinions , ideas , myths , misconceptions and mistakes;
take whatever you can from it and don't abuse someone because they made a bad call .You will have to learn to do your own filtering as to what " facts" are relevant to you
In any case if you want 3rd Gen info you should be asking on here , THE 3rd Gen Forum

Re: I need some help and suggestions!!!
f im on an xbox doing this because i had to borrow a family members computer to put my thread on the other forum... not everybody has money like you other guys on here so stop being a dichead and assuming please. if i had money to throw around like some of you i wouldnt be asking this question but merely buying it and building it. please understand where im coming from. a lower class family. but i want a nice car that ive always wanted and now have the option to get from an older gentleman that has been nice enough to hold the car for me for two weeks now till i come up with the money. please take this seriously and just help me out ok. thank you 3rdgen.org forum

Re: I need some help and suggestions!!!
And you want to buy a 20 year old car, with close to 160K on it? With all the fuses pulled??? Already needs exhaust, and a window? Do you have a place to work on it? Tools? Even if you are a novice mechanic, this place is an overwhelmingly invaluable resource to start learning......
I think before I handed over the cash, I would cruise in there with fistful of fuses, and a pic of where they all go, (in case the fuse block isn't labeled, or ya can't read it due to whatever reason...) put the fuses in, and make sure everything works. Take it around the block at least once, to make sure it does indeed move around under its own power decently. If you can't test drive it, offer him 800.00

Having a place to work, tools, and someone to lend a hand that is knowledgeable makes this project MUCH more doable. I would still offer him 1000.00 (count out 10 100 dollar bills.... have the others stashed in a different pocket, so if he doesn't take it, you can pull out some more.) and see if he takes it.
Funny how the sight of a pile of benjamins can make folks jump on 'em.

Re: I need some help and suggestions!!!
well 3rd gen.org i have an update on the car. its in better shape than expected. the guy obviously couldve sold for more money than i got it for. im glad he didnt do anything with it cuz he said hed charge more but..... i got there for the first time he started it. sounded like total trash. no fuses like i said except ignition and fuel inj fuses were in place. it was running horrible and missing and backfiring in the intake... he didnt know but luckily ive ran across something that sounded like this before. i looked and said man this is junk but body is good and tired brand new and interior in great shape and t tops dont leak. the car ...i found out through research and talking to prior mechanics that had worked on it that i found through receipts and such.. the car has a whole full new fuel system and everything and they couldnt get it running right... then the mechanic tells me its been sitting in a garage since 2004!!! so i was like DUUUHHHHHH its gotta be bad gas lol. i put 5 gallons of premium in it on top of the old 1/4 tank of bad gas with two bottles of fuel injector cleaner made with jet fuel to pump up the old gas a few octane points and fired it back up. let it run and had to keep it idling cuz it wouldnt idle on its own. held it about 3 1/2 grand on the tach for about 45 seconds let off and was running like a scolded dog. put all new fuses in there place and voula everything worked. they let it sit for 2 years in a garage and gas went bad... so they took it to mechanic and he couldnt fix it so they pulled fuses over the years that they needed for their dd and could never fix the problem.. damn bloomin idiots. it was just bad gas hahahahahaha. as for the exhaust it was just the hanger was broke so i have to put a new hanger in it. easy. window 50 bucks. just wanted to let yall know i got a helluva steal with this just cuz some dumb mechanic and previous 2 owners couldnt figure it out. hahahaha bad gas got me a cheap beast of a trans am. i did have to put a passenger front sway bar link in because it was GONE. and redo the driver rear sway bar link cuz idiots put the spacer bar on the bushing and washer under bushing. they put it on wrong. that was all. all thats left is to get blinkers working on passenger side and rear seal on the tranny. simple stuff. thanks yall. sorry so long post. just excited as hell
