89 egr solenoid valve, 305, need help please

I am reworking a tune port set up that has no vacuum lines and I saw somewhere on the third gen site that a vs25 solenoid would work, so I purchased one. Now I'm having trouble figuring out what needs to go where. This solenoid valve has two plastic ports on one end and a bright metal one on the opposite. One of the plastic ports has what appears to be a reducer inside. Can someone walk me through this?

Thanks in advance.

If you need a oem one I can sell you one, hopefully you have the right connector. The ground and hot side of the solonoid does not matter. You have a vent port usually with a foam filter and 2 nipples. The solonoid gets ported vacuum from under the throttle body the other port of the solonoid goes to the egr valve. This is a normally open solonoid .

Thanks for the response. That explains the foam over one of the ports. I have attached a couple of pix of the plug and if yours will mate to it, how much?

It depends on where you are located at, the solenoids were the same for camaro and firebird 87-92. I would do 25 shipped .

You can try to contact @Tuned Performance who is a board sponsor, and may be able to advise you better about availability. You could also retrofit a later solenoid valve, such as the AC-Delco 214-2207, but that would require changing the electrical connector on the engine wire harness as well.

After 10 years it’s gone, you might retrofit one or post in classifieds wanted section.

I retro-ed the C4 setup. It goes on the thermostat housing, and I extended the wiring harness. Works fine. Looks original. and is hidden under the TB.
