deleting cold start injector on a 1988 5.7 tpi

rather than replacing a bad 9th injector, what is best procedure to delete it? can I just unplug it and run a 1989 prom chip or reprogram mine?

Correct ( so long as it is electrically bad and not leaking fuel.)
Disconnect the connector from the CSI switch ( the brass hex head unit shown below ) at the front of the intake and it will never run again
If the CSI is leaking fuel then you need to remove and plug the line to it from the end of the rail

Re: deleting cold start injector on a 1988 5.7 tpi

I have an 88 305 and the CSI senor/switch in the front of the block, is not there. Plugged/removed/or engine swap from previous owner I have no idea.

My question is with nothing plugged in would I still need to disconnect the wires to the 9th injector, or since there is no temp signal will it never fire?

What would happen if you run a 1989 350 memcal with a 1988 350 engine and NOT delete the cold start injector. I am asking because I did this and my car kept stalling.
