Swap time!! What am I forgetting?

I'm swapping a 350 into a 305 car. 1987 305 IROC TPI

I know there are things that I'm going to need, and I have a list of items that I suspect I'll need.

From those that have done this swap; Is there anything else that you can add to the list so that we don't have to stop installing to order parts.

Here's my list so far:
1. fuelinjectors
2. knocksensor
3. oxygensensor
4. motormounts
5. harmonicbalancer
6. oilpressure sensor
7. dist.cap
8. ign.rotor
9. sparkplug wires
10. oilfilter
11. sparkplugs
12. thermostat
13. 350 prom

If there's anything I need to add (parts or advice) I would be grateful for the help.

P.S. Other than 10:1 compression ratio, and a comp cam, this is basically a stock TPI build

Maybe esc depending on the letters or numbers on your 305 one. Flexplate is your 350 a one piece or two piece rear main seal ? Depending on head bolt pattern the center holes elongated for 55-86 bolt pattern.

Did the car have a engine?
If so, all you need are the 350 knock sensor , injectors and prom
There is no difference 305 vs 350 on the other parts

Re: Swap time!! What am I forgetting?

I was able to get a roller 350 block with a one piece rear, and a set of the 083 heads. I'm just worried that when I get started I'm going to run into something I hadn't thought of and get stuck going back to the parts store for something that will inevitably not be in stock.

I know that a lot of Toyota engines have a knock sensor wire under the intake manifold that should be replaced when the engine is apart; I'm just wondering if there's anything like that here.

Thanks guys!

Re: Swap time!! What am I forgetting?

I think you have a good list, your Flexplate and intake will work fine. If you need assistance on the memcal reprograming lmk I can help. here is some information about the esc modules.

16126761 (ANRZ) is discontinued. Replaced with HKR for the 4.3l & 5.7L engines, and HKM for the 5.0l engines.
16022621 (BLH), is for 2.8l, 5.0l, and 5.7l engines.

Re: Swap time!! What am I forgetting?

So I called comp cams before I ordered my cam and the rep told me that I wouldn't have to worry about the prom, and that the engine would be just fine. (going from a stock 305 to a 350 with flat top pistons and a 08-501-8 cam.)

I finally got the engine in. Now that its up and running it seems I still have a problem: On cold starts the engine seems to want to idle low, and once it warms up the engine dies at idle. Along with the items listed above I also replaced the egr valve, egr solenoid and had the transmission rebuilt. I called comp cams again yesterday and spoke to a different person. When I told him what cam I have he tells me "Oh. Yeah you need to upgrade the computer,..." SOB,..

This wouldn't bother me so much if I hadn't been told just the opposite.

Here's the first question: Is that what it should do? I expected to have to upgrade the prom,... but I never though to ask what happens if you don't.

Second question: what are the benefits of tuning vs. ordering a memcal

The nice thing about tpi maf is will correct some for a rich or lean condition. Your memcal can be reprogramed to a 350 calibration. The advantage of Tuning it yourself would be correcting the blm if needed but you will still need to start with a 350 calibration. I would use broadcast code aujm.
