Oil Pressure Connector Not connected

I was underneath my 1988 Iroc L98 and noticed a connector wasn't connected. This connecter is about an inch or two above the oil filter, so I'm assuming it's for the oil pressure. My oil pressure guage has always seemed to work, well most of the time.

I can't get it to plug back in.

Will this cause any issues, or should I get this fixed asap. I read somewhere that this can signal the fuel pump to turn off, however I'm not sure that info pertained to our cars.

Or is this connector just for the guage?

Pretty sure that connector bypasses the FP relay in case of failure, so power will be sent to the fuel Pump...it's not a "safety"...it's there so say relay failed, once you cranked the engine over and built enough Oil Pressure, the fuel pump will be powered.

Only problem with not having it working is if your fue pump relay ever fails ( very common with age ) you won't be able to start your engine.

Is wired in parallel with the relay so it runs the pump anytime the engine OP is above 4 psi ( regardless of were the Ign switch is )
