89' TPI has a hard time accelerating after manifold and injector swap
Hey guys,
Im at a complete lost here, so over the weekend I installed a ported stock 89' manifold base and Bosch III 22 pound per hour injectors with a adjustable fuel pressure regulator on my L98. So after fire up we got the timing set back to 6 degrees btdc and seemed to be idling, reving and starting fine, but when putting it in gear it has the hardest time accelerating from a stop until 2k it gets a little better but you can feel the power isnt there and felt like its being held back. When it warms up it gets better but still feels laggy. I had the fuel pressure set to 46 at wot and today i noticed it was at 40 at wot so i just tried to set it to the recomended max of 50 and then after fire up the gauge went to 0 and never moved. And also today i noticed it backfires through the exhaust and intake tube when barely cracking the throttle body open. And now its running worse than ever.
What I did so far:
tightened all the runner bolts and vacuum lines
checked timing to see if its at 6 degrees (which it is)
looked for arcing plug wires
made sure all the injectors are pulsating (which they are)
use a temp gun on each header tube and they all read around the same temp
Reset the ECM
So guys any kind of help would be appreciated

You set the timing with the est lead disconected I hope. Otherwise you may be too rich and need a chip burnt.

I second a timing issue. Either timing was set with est lead still connected, or if you did disconnect it, you haven't re-connected it. Could the distributor be out a tooth?

Yes it was the timing I thought we disconnected the EST but I guess we didn't. Disconnected the timing was at -4 haha.
Well thanks again guys I really appreciate it
