Plenum Removal CLeanup: Quick tips

I have my car running but it is rich after the TPS adjustment. Base timing is around 5deg not 6deg (not sure if it would matter that much) and my IAC counts seem to be stuck at 145 and MAF reads at 2300g/s or more

Car starts for while but idles well starts fine no miss or knock. just fuel rich could be stuff above or stuck open injectors.

It has crud everywhere so I want to clean up. I am looking for quick tips or advice if I do want to do the following:

Remove the upper pleneum (leave runners on?)
so I can gain access to vac lines and egr and dizzy area and just clean up with degreaser. While in there what parts or mods or tune up items should I be planning to replace to be safe? will i have access to the CTS and thermostat easier, coolant bypass mods, etc

I have my plenum and runners off now to change my injectors and was wondering the same thing. Should I change the EGR valve while I can get to it easy and the sensor on the bottom of the plenum. Not sure which sensor that is. Or just leave everything as is. Gonna change the fuel pressure sensor diaphragm since the car sat for a couple years.

I had the plenum off the GTA 2xs and the Camaro once so far.

Test the EGR valve push up plunger underneath the mushroom w/fingers, one finger over the vac hole, if the plunger stays up its good.

Yes, replace the fuel regulator if doing injectors. One more part is the IAT(intake air temp), if car runs better when hot, than cold -sometimes that's it ... sorry didn't do mine.

I took cleaned plenums and TB real good.. Small tube had some caked junk, used a wire to jab it out and lots of carb spray.

You may have to loosen bottom of runners to get plenum out.

Took my runners totally out. One thread I printed on how to change injectors talks about taking out and reinstalling the 4 inner intake manifold bolts because they have a tendency to loosen up and leak which it looks like mine might be since there's a little oil on top of intake in that area. Just not sure about just taking out those bolts one at a time and relock tightening and torquing them down. Don't want to create a bigger issue. Don't really feel like pulling whole intake either though. Cleaning those old gaskets off the runners and plenum sure was a pia. Now the real fun job of cleaning off where the runners meet the intake.

JJCuff1,
Just read your post, was curious as where you were on this?
My thoughts are replace the intake gaskets since your there, and replace those vacuum lines. Mine are 25 years old, so it makes sense.
Also, I just read a post on here about a guy who had idle and running problems, and chased it down to a broken or bent rocker arm, not the typical "chase the TPI" problems that so popular here.
So since your there...

Re: Plenum Removal CLeanup: Quick tips

Hi

I played with all other issues, interiro general tune and almost intake. I will do plugs and wires. I definitley have a spark miss. But plugs look old and wires appear to routed around manifolds so have ot shorted

I also diealed in tps,iac and want to change timing it was at 5 want to try 7-8

then I hope knock goes away and not as lean, then I am pulling intake

I have EGR delete kit and Cold start. I am thinking just delete EGR eliminate one less problem. i know here others say you lose power (emissions non issue) but with many going to HSR the egr has to go anyway and my next rebuild if this engine requires it will be a 355 HSR
