warms up then dies...

hey guys,

i have an 89 formula with 305 and TPI. the car runs GREAT when it's cold, acceleration is great, idles fine. but when it warms up after about 10-15 minutes it runs terrible, it loses ALL pick up and eventually when i hit the gas the car sputters so bad it dies. then it won't start up for a while til it cools off. thinking its running really rich but can't figure out why. fuel pressure seems fine

it's got new plugs, wires, coil, EGR valve, injectors, cap, rotor, antifreeze, oil, and coolant temp sensor.

any ideas? im at a loss...

Re: warms up then dies...

I may have a similiar prob with my 305 TPI. It would start up and run for X amount of time.....then would do same thing as you describe. If I sprayed carb cleaner into the intake, car would fire up then die. If I let it sit for X amount of time, then it may/may not run. Per advice here, I checked fuel pressure and was good....so checked Injectors for resistance, and found several that were below recommended values.

I ordered injectors but have not had chance to replace yet....hoping that this will resolve the issue. At least, it is the next step. I started a thread for this as well....

Re: warms up then dies...

I've seen ignition control modules cause the same problem when they get warm. YMMV.
