correct prom??

my 86 TPI camaro has the ECM #1227165. and it has the prom #AMU8958 in it my question of the day is: is this the correct prom ID for a car like mine?

Yes, that is the factory PROM. It is for an '86 Camaro, 5.0L TPI, auto trans, with both FED and CALI emissions. The only thing I don't know if it has been superseded. There may be a newer/better calibration for it as many of the early calibrations did get updated.

One update was to lock the TCC at a higher MPH. This was to prevent stutter at low speeds when the TCC would lock.
