Quick question TPI compatibility.

I have a 89 Firebird with the LB9/MM5 combo. The engine started knocking and I have a low low mileage 350 in my garage from a previous car (1979 Z28)
The 350 is a 300HP Jasper engine. I would like to put it in the firebird and use the TPI on it. I know the center intake bolts will need elongated to bolt onto the perimeter bolt heads on the 350.
My concern is if the cam will work with the TPI or if it will be a tuning nightmare and if the injectors would need upgraded.

Camshaft Specifications:
• Hydraulic Camshaft
• .050 Duration: 214° Intake; 224° Exhaust
• Advertised Duration: 288° Intake; 298° Exhaust
• Cam Lift: .295 Intake; .310 Exhaust
• Valve Lift: .443 Intake; .465 Exhaust
• Lobe Center: 107° Intake; 117° Exhaust

When we put it in the 1979 Z28 it had a Holley 670cfm carb on it and ran great. The Z28 was sold w/o the engine and I have been wanting to put it in something all year. I could go back to the carb but like the response of the TPI.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Quick question TPI compatibility.

I wasn't sure how to calculate LSA, so I did a google search on LSA. It is the average of the intake and exhaust centers, so 107+117=224/2=112. I think anything above 110 will work- at 112 you should be Good to Go!

Anyway for me to know for sure. I'd hate to get that 350 all hooked up and find out the cam isn't compatible.

I'd love it if I could use the 350 instead of finding another or getting the 305 fixed.

You should have no issues with that cam. The specs are pretty close to an LT1 cam- just a little more duration. I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
