TBI to TPI harness
TBI to TPI harness
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums and have a couple questions. I recently acquired an 85 iroc z with no motor or trans. I have a donor motor out of a 92 Trans Am TPI along with the ecm and part of the harness. The engine harness is there in its entirety, but they cut parts off where it goes into the body. My question is are the body wiring the same between a Camaro to a trans am? Like would I be able to just match up wires and splice them together? Or would I just be better off turning this motor into a carbd engine?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: TBI to TPI harness
The harnesses, sensors, and ECM are different from 85 to 92. You would be much better off finding a decent harness from a 90-92 camaro or firebird.

Unlikely given the year difference
Need to compare the terminations on the firewall connectors

Re: TBI to TPI harness
I missed that you had the 92 ECM. I thought you were gonna use the 85 ECM. The front lights portion of the harness will be different of course, but it can be separated from the engine portion of the C100 connector and swapped with the camaro lights harness easily.
Re: TBI to TPI harness
Awesome. That will be an easy change, I'm more concerned about rear lights and power windows...everything inside the car really...I am under the impression the entire harness is integrated

Re: TBI to TPI harness
The rear lights and power window harnesses only get power through the C100. All the other wiring for them is contained in the harnesses in the interior of the car.
The power connections at the C100 are probably similar for both years. Check the links posted above or compare the locations, colors, and sizes of the connections between the 2 to be sure.
