best HP boosters for your buck?!!!!
hello all, I have an 89 formula and I'm looking for the best HP boosting aftermarket parts. I think I have to replace my fuel pump so I want to replace it with a high output pump, then I was hoping to put on a larger gauge throttle body and header back system. and a new intake. I already have a dual cat system but the guy I bought it from put the dual right back into the stock muffle so I'm also going to have full and true duals. I'm in college and she's my pride and joy so I'm just looking to see what y'all think of my plan. I want power of course and am looking to buy it as I can hopefully the exhaust first. any impute would be much appreciated. thanks all

I agree. A full exhaust set up from the headers all the way back to the tips will give you a noticeable difference. If the rest of your car is still stock, I wouldn't go for the larger throttle body as it wouldn't be needed at your power level.

Finish filling out your profile so we can see specifics on your car.
I second the exhaust, and also wouldn't mess with the throttle body. Have you gutted your air box? Doing that plus a high flow filter (such as a K&N) would help the car breathe a little better.

Re: best HP boosters for your buck?!!!!
put the dual back into the stock muffler?? so it's duals to a single muffler and Y's out? If so, that makes no sense!!
headers if ya have the money and enjoy knuckle busting or spend a lot of monies for someone else to do it.. I just slapped on 3" with a dcat all the way back to an 80 series flowmastah and it sounds delicious and a little but viscous.. not so much that it annoys.. it's literally just right.. maybe headers but even this change made a very noticeable difference.. car is breathing very nice now.. should boost the gas mileage too!
otherwise just dump the money into the heads and super charge it if you are a person with plenty of cash.. have fun!

best seat of the pants mod to really change the feel, a higher stall TC and a drive way drop in shift kit.
couple hrs in drive way with a friend. a big smile every time ya flash the TV to stall speed n chirp gears......
only mod ive ever done that really changed things.

For my Little bros 91 RS we went with K&N filter, full exhaust, and from there worked on suspension since the old 305 can only go so far on a minimal budget ($700 total budget)

Re: best HP boosters for your buck?!!!!
If you have the ws6 package your suspension is already pretty good, maybe swapping out any rubber bushings for urethane ones would be a good idea, but the sway bars are already a good size.

Re: best HP boosters for your buck?!!!!
theres a lot of ways to boost hp...depends on how far you're willing to go. get air in and out faster will increase your HP basically. if you dont mind losing the LTR look, get an stealth ram, headers will increase the sound and hp of your car. better heads would be a great place to go too.
if you have budgeted just an exhaust job, and maybe a home made cool air intake with K&N filter, may i suggest too, a primo tune up. i never did that for my 87 (when it had the 305 TPI) and found that at nearly 165,xxx miles, it still had stock plugs, wires, cap and rotor. i definately gained some performance back from the motor after that

Re: best HP boosters for your buck?!!!!
did you bother reading the OP? It's stock except the exhaust which was re-modified back.. so yeah I did read all the "junk" and all of it was acceptable.. I didn't see anything constructive suggestions from you other than a holier than tho attitude towards all the "junk" people suggested..
