the cobalt. LS vs 305.the cobalt is lighter and makes more power. you COULD win, but he would have to spot you. now, if he is a crappy driver and you leave right.you might spank him.

 

the cobalt does not make more power. in 07 they made in the 140hp range.
I had an 09 cobalt ls which had the new at the time LAP engine which introduced vvt to the ecotec lineup. It made 155hp. they are peppy and rev happy but suffer from mad wheel hop if you try to launch hard. That being said I would say if he can get a good launch and not wheel hop he will take you.

 

a good reaction time at the light CAN make the difference. I have seen slower cars with better drivers beat better equipment. if he leaves right ,and can make it stick. his gta stands a chance.

 

This is kinda unrelated but, being old i have to tell someone. Back in the 70's i had a '73 Grand Prix with a 400 with a quadrajet 4 barrel carb duel exhaust and 400 turbo trans. that weighed over 4000 lbs. I was at a stop light and a little Toyota 4 banger lined up next to me revving his little motor just itching for a little race. So when the light turned green, i smoked the tires for half a block and seen nothing but red Toyota tail lights. The moral to my story is; Be prepared to get your @$$ spanked.
