85 tpi harness adaptability
Is there a way to take an 85 tpi harness and adapt it for use on a later model computer? Need any thoughts to those who are good with customizing these type things.

Re: 85 tpi harness adaptability
Reason Im asking is because of my classified ad for the 85 tpi harness. Ive had 2 people ask if this harness could work in other year models but I cant give them a straight answer to be able to sell it. In my understanding the computer controls the harness and the harness is only as good as the computer plugged to it. I just need to know if an 85 harness can be modified to plug up to say an 89 or 90 computer or what steps need to be taken to get it to work.

Can't specifically answer your question, as I have not done it. This link might give you some insight. It's for swapping in a newer ECM in place of an '85 ECM, so it should detail the changes required. Definitely not a plug and play swap to a newer ECM, but surely doable with some work.
