059 vortec heads
Hi all,
I recently acquired some 305 059 vortec heads for my 1989 305 tpi, and have a couple questions.
1. Are the 19 lb injectors still good? Should I get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?
2. Would be better off with an egr delete or the corvette style egr and tube?
I appreciate any input! I just want to wake up the 305 tpi, just A little, not looking for huge power gains.

19 Lbs should be fine. EGR Delete is easier, if done in the programming. Depends on whether you need it to pass smog where you live. EGR does reduce engine temps some, so it's not an automatic decision. While you have it apart, stick in an LT1 cam- works great in the 305 and will work with the Vortec's limited lift.

Re: 059 vortec heads
Thank you for the reply! I will start my quest for a cam now!
I have the cam out of the 305 vortec, but it's a marine engine. If the cam is the same as the automotive vortec, it looks to be better than my stock 305 lb9 cam.
Anybody have any thoughts?

There are many different cams. You can check the one you have by measuring the total height of a lobe, and then subtract the max dia of the lobe ( Base Circle). The difference is the amount of lift ( when multiplied by 1.5). Do it for both intake and exhaust. LT1 f-body cams run in the .450-.460 range for lift. B-body LT1 cams can be more like .430 lift, but have more torque ( better for DD and stop light to stop light!).

It looks like I will use that cam in my lb9, and once the heads are back from the machine shop, I know my valve springs will be good with that cam.
