Fuel pump pressure question

hey, needs a quick answer, fuel pump **** the bed in the maro, buying a new one, but the parts guy says it puts out 75 pounds of pressure, the right pressure is about 45? is the counter guy on glue? he says its the only one that comes up for an 89 camaro rs 2.8, what should i do? there is no adjuster on it. any advice would be great!

Wrong forum so I'll move your post, but the fuel pump is rated from 0-75psi. As the pressure increased the volume will decrease. The fuel pressure regulator is what maintains the appropriate rail pressure.

It is logical that the pump put more pressure than what the system requires.
75 psi is a normal pressure for a pump.

The injection system and their components, are based on 45 psi pressure, as an example, we can say that the injector capacities and performance is based on this nominal pressure of 45 psi.

Therefore that FPR try to maintain the nominal pressure of 45 psi, by regulating the pump pressure.
