should i go chrome?
should i go chrome?
originally, i didn't want to go that shiny, but i'm thinking of selling my ceramic coated parts and going for chrome, do you think i should?
here is one pic of the engine bay; the car was in the shop again for another year right before the 2001 superfest. seems to be a re occuring problem. i had the car completely dissasembled 1 week prior to the show. worked 24 hours straight to get it all together before the opening day. (was so tired i forgot my new resivoir tanks).

So your ceramic coated headers aren't all nice and shiney? I say go for it, but just don't go TOO overboard with it. My plans for my Z is for Edelbrock Hi-Flo TPI, polished to a nice shine like your intake, chrome valve covers, SLP Ceramice coated headers, and those metal mesh lookin hoses. That's what I think is just about right. Wish my car looked as good as yers man
thanks Hg for the compliment........how can you tell about the headers?
that was actually the fault of my own, had i known i was running lean all these years it probably wouldn't have happened. it's amazing what running 35psi will do to your car. after i installed the AFPR and bumped the fuel psi up to 45 i polished the coating back to new.
honestly, i really like the chrome shiny look. but, i do worry that sometimes it is a bit over done in all when you have all brackets, hinges, etc. done. so that's why i went with ceramic coating on everything instead. i just wish i could have ceramic coated the runners as well.
the only problem i've found, is that ceramic coating holds heat....man it gets hot under that hood.

How 'bout getting the intake and exhaust JET-HOT coated? I've asked, and someone said he asked them, and it wasn't really expensive(I think) If you're willing to pay the money, I say JET-HOT coat it. And the JET-HOT stuff is part silver so it could help cool... possibly. I'd do it myself, but I'm a teenager with no money so I can't afford it
i think your confuesed somehow, the headers are jet coated......as well as everything else you see that's shiny.
i was considering going chrome, mainly because i wanted even more shine.............
just a thought.

The chrome may be alittle esier to keep clean then the jet hot coated stuff. So that may be a benifit for you if you show it a lot. I polished most of my stuff and I think I spend more time trying to keep it clean then driving it. I plan on ppowder coating as much of it as I can with clear this while the car is getting its winter maintnance done to it.
can u anodize them?... im not really sure bout how that is actually done... but perhaps anodizing them the same color as ur paint would look good and shiny at the same time...
like i said.. i dont know the first thing about the process and whether or not it works well wit heat and the such.. i jus know things look pretty good...

sure you can anodize just about anything if your willing.
they also make translucent type powdercoat now, or you could just paint it like i did with the runners. it came out really nice; but i like as little color in the engine bay as possible and more shiny things.
as far as the AC condenser, just took alot of time and patience.
just went over it many times wet sanding it with different grades until it was "lusterful" and looked like a mirror.
