what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

I need 30 lb fuel injectors. What brand should I go with? (I bought new Ford SVO 19lb injectors for my stock 305 last time I needed some. They were $229 @ Summit). Now it seems I can get used Bosch for about $200 or new Bosch for about $400. Any other options or suggestions?

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

I literally bought a set of 30# Bosch D3's yesterday, from Southbay. Less than $200. Talked the Frank, the owner. Very informative and friendly guy.

For the record, I had been emailing with Julie/Southbay, a few weeks ago, and she said they were redoing some of the website, and those 30 pounders were NOT online. FYI.

No, in fact it should increase LPG due to better atomization. You can't go wrong with Southbays Bosch III's. I have them in 2 of mine and love them.

ok, so you definitely suggest Bosch III 22 in a stock 350 TPI?
A friend of mine told me about some possible issues regardind the Bosch III because they dont have a sort firm fix/firm plug, so you have to folllow a precise procedure to install them. He, instead, suggested me Bosch II for this reason. With Bosch II I wont risk fuel leakage.

What do you think?

Im going to buy them in matter of days.

Thanks!

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

I think the specific procedure is to install them into the base first, and then put then put the rails on. ...anyhow...while I haven't installed mine yet, TONS of people are using them successfully.

Install them in the rail first. There are some really good threads on here that will step you through the procedure.

You'll get detailed instructions with them from Southbay on how to do the install. When done per procedure they are leak free.

Don't dig to deep into this. Been used for years on thousands of applications.

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

Its a piece of cake.
In short,
Disconnect Throttle Body from Plenum and leave it setting in in is place.
Pull Plenum
Pull Runners
Disconnect fuel feed/return line
Disconnect and label any vacuum/sensor lines
Pull fuel rail
Pull injectors
Replace injectors

And reverse order.

Do a search on here for the procedure.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...07467506,d.cWw

Buy some new plenum/runner gaskets.

It took me 2 hours from start to finish. A very simple procedure.

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

Just so we're clear, with Southbay/Bosch III injectors, they recommend BASE FIRST. I've installed my old SVO's a couple times rail first with no issues, but Southbay CLEARLY recommends BASE first.

Do they have a sort of pin (like the cotter pin) to firm-block the injector ?

I'll watch the link you wrote.

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

that' the scary part of the Bosh III: they don't have the locking clip. Does this make the procedure to fix them more complex?

thank you man

Re: what brand of fuel injectors should I get?

Those grey/green injectors were stock on my 89 L98 Iroc. ....I had intermittent issues that I could never quite diagnose. Occasional rare stumbles, hot start/no start issues about 1 out of every 10 startups....tried everything, replace most of the ignition, bought a noid light set, but never found anything actually wrong. With 150k miles, finally just broke down and replaced the injectors. No problems since.

...and now with the upcoming 383, I just bought NEW injectors again. Don't worry about the clips, once installed, they're sandwiched between the base manifold and the fuel rails, which are bolted together. They ain't goin' anywhere!
