Code 32 on startup

Hey everyone,
Wanted to get to the root of my problem. When I start my car (305 tpi) from cold, it throw a code 32 ses. If I turn the car off just as quick as it turns on, and restart it, code is gone and will not show up the rest of the day. Before, on cold start up, it would idle rough for a half a second and then go up to normal, however new plugs fixed this, so it starts up like new, but throws that ses light. The car does burn a tiny bit of oil when it starts up from cold, could this be causing the EGR code? I don't believe my EGR is bad, I think it is just being thrown when that oil burns. Just curious, if anyone has had this problem or know why it could be happening, any advice would be great!

Re: Code 32 on startup

It's odd that it thinks there is a problem with the egr at startup but instead of saying "I don't believe my egr is bad" do some troubleshooting Read both part 1 and part 2 of this. It has great information. http://sethirdgen.org/egr.htm

I had the same problem. Read my post...

It may be your EGR temp switch (if you have one). Should be located at the base of the EGR valve. Screws in with a pigtail connector.

In your post you said you disconnected the egr valve, how easy is that? From what I see online its under the intake. Also I should have noted too that I am not too concerned with fixing it as we have zero emissions here, however I would like the damn orange light to go away when its cold. So if it is easy enough to unplug it, I'd do that

Re: Code 32 on startup

I disconnected the EGR vacuum solenoid. Just unplug the electrical connector. If you have a regular vacuum type EGR, you may not have the solenoid. I think you may have since the SES light came on. Follow the vacuum line coming off you EGR valve and see where it leads. In my case, my EGR temp switch went out and it was replaced, but it wasn't the right one. I needed a normally open temp switch. Yours may be a normally closed one.

I may have unplugged the wrong thing.

Unplugged the connector on the funny looking vacuum connector there, no change, wrong one?
