Idle goes up when ALDL is connected ; Camaro 305 TPI
Hello
Camaro 1989 305 TPI
I need some help on WINALDL.
When the engine has warmed idle speed is about 750U/min.
When i plug in the ALDL cable (from Moates) the idle jumps to 1050U/min and stays there. Unplugging the cable brings the idle back to 750U/min.
Why ???????

thats normal for the idle to raise, there should be a little resistor on the cable that you remove once the car is connected to the program, it should drop the idle back down

Once the car has begun to stream data, remove the 10k resistor (if you bought a premade cable it's gonna be a toggle switch/etc). The car should continue to stream data but will act normally.

I for one thought the 10k resistor had to stay in. Thanks for the info, next data log I'll pull that out and have a nice running car AND data.

Don't log with the resistor in place as it messes with timing. I did and it pings like mad.. not good.
