No fuel pressure while cranking ; 305 TPI

Hello

My car is a 305 TPI from 1989

When i switch on ignition the fuel pump activates for 2s and the pressure is about 50 PSI. During cranking the pump does not start and the pressure drops to 0. During cranking the voltage to the pump is 6V ????

Please explain exactly the function of the Pump system.
What happens when turn the key and crank.

Thanks

Re: No fuel pressure while cranking ; 305 TPI

From Orangebird..."In stock configuration , there are two ways your fuel pump can be activated . One way is the oil pressure switch and the other is the relay that is controlled by the ECM.

Otherwise , it's likely to need to crank over long enough to build oil pressure before the pump comes on and pressurizes the rail . This will take a longer cranking time than most would find acceptable , depending of course how fast the engine builds oil pressure while cranking."

The Oil Pressure Switch and Fuel Pump/Relay are all linked together. No oil pressure, no pump....I believe.
