SuperRam on stock L98 - Injectors?
I'm going to be putting on a SuperRam manifold base, plenum and runners on my stock L98 (has highflow dual cats & catback exhaust). I'm not expecting a world of gain or anything, but will be revisiting the motor later with heads, cam, etc.
So for a stock head/cam setup, would 22lb injectors be sufficient with the extra airflow that will be made available? I have B III's from SouthBay currently. I've considered going 24lb injectors and then tuning, since I have to use a non-adjustable FPR due to Cali smog restrictions.
Feedback would be appreciated. I'm totally expecting a few "why" posts, but I'll just say "why not".

Depends on who's tuning the car. You could easily be fine. Just want to watch afr at wot at shift point. I'd do it. If there was an issue look for some bodies throw away stock lt1 injectors.

Use stock for now and upgrade later. You would likely have to retune with new injectors moreso than with the intake but even tuning with those bolt ons it would show improvements

Thanks guys. Wasn't looking to spend money for fun/make work where there is none, so I'll re-approach injectors when I do the rest of the engine mods.

The ECM has O2 correction, but the idea is to keep that margin close and within it's range. Ask yourself how much horsepower the Super Ram will uncork, then calculate how much horsepower the 22# injectors can handle, which is about 285 horsepower at 80% duty cycle, and about 350 horsepower at 100% duty cycle. The Super Ram itself will not net you 100 horsepower as a bolt on so your injectors are fine. However, the VE down low will be "moved around" so to speak, and this is where the O2 correction comes into play. If the margin is too great in some areas you will feel it during everyday driving, as well as during the transition into power enrichment, which will greatly affect your wide open throttle fueling if BLM is higher than 128 during that transition. If you can live with it, you will be fine, but like Vanilla Ice pointed out, watch your fueling up top...
The 'why not' was geared towards people asking 'why put the SuperRam on a stock engine' since it seemed to come up any time someone asked in the past. Will be doing a dyno run before and after to see what is what.

Super ram and 1.6 rockers on a stock engine will gain alot of power! Been there done that. Drop near half sec off 1/4 mile from stock with those two mods easy. Abit more with tune and simple suspension mods/weight reduction with drag wheels. Its possible to make a stock low 14 sec L98 car turn high 12's with all the bolt ons. Stock 22 lb is fine

So how did it all shake out? I am collecting parts for a similar upgrade on an L98 in an '87 corvette. I originally came upon this thread while considering 24 lb. injectors. How much did you ultimately change. Did you go with the Super ram? Cam, heads? Did you get on a Dyno?
Re: SuperRam on stock L98 - Injectors?
You noticed a big gain from the super ram? I have 92 formula 5.7 that I want to do the super ram on. I have headers,3' exhaust no cats and a flow master. CAI, Air foil, no smog equipment. It runs good now has good power down low. But falls flat after about 60. What did you run the 1/4 in? after the Ram and rockers?
