305 TPI Camaro Codes

Looking for some advice. My car does not have a service engine light on but it puffs black smoke when starting and seems sluggish. After doing some research I was hoping that it was based on a faulty temp sensor. A colleague of mine has an OBD1 scanner so I figure that I would take advantage and check the codes. I was surprised and a little overwhelmed to see 6 codes pop up now. Any advice or help is appreciated.

Based on the codes my immediate plan is to replace the temp... sensor and O2 sensor to see if any codes disappear.

I pulled the codes for my 1987 IROC-Z and found codes 44, 45, 52, 53, 54, and 55.

The car has the following symptoms:

When cold (sitting for 24 hours or more) it starts quickly then idles rough until warm (5- 10 minutes)

After sitting for over 30 minutes to say 3 hours the car starts hard (cranks for 5 - 10 seconds) then puffs out a could of black smoke (smells like gas) but idles and runs okay once running.

This is my second Camaro and my personal opinion is that it is loading up while accelerating. It has lots of torque in 1st gear but struggles to rev and pull through 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. I put a 3.27 gear in the car and even with the lower gear it does not have enough power to hold 4th gear at wide open throttle.

I have done the basics, plugs, wires, distributor rotor, and air filters.
