Camshaft

im putting together an engine for the spring and this is my first time for tpi, so heres what i got so far, 350 4 bolt .030 over, forged flattop pistons(10.0:1, ff)wheeler polished rods with arp studs, edelbrock 6099 aluminum heads( 2.02, 1.60)and i will be getting 22 pound injectors, a 52mm TB, and a custom chip, im just going to be using the ported stock TPI for now, and upgrading later on to either a SR or MR, my big obstacle is that i cant decide on a camshaft , i was looking at the LT4 hotcam, but it is highly debated upon for use with TPI, any ideas guys???
id like to stay with a hydraulic roller

Go for the hot cam, it works very well with a high flow LTR setup or a mini or SR. I have seen it work I several cars and am going to do it myself.

stang eater,
since your a 5-spd trans, and thinking about cam the HOT cam
would be a great choice. but the stock TPI would have to opened
up a lot. manifold ported to the max. the LT1 manifold swap would
be a fine choice. the minram is fine also, but seeing the cost vs the
LT1 swap.. the swap is more inline. might have to pull a lil more
gear, but starting off.. the hot cam is a fine starting point.

How big are the chambers on those heads?

10:1 sounds like a lot, even with 64CC heads.

Your TPI won't flow as previously stated, and I don't recommend anything over 224 degrees.

I can punch your #'s in some dyno software to figure it out, but i'm assuming anyway you won't flow enouch.

an intake manifold upgrade later will be fine. ive got several
customers wandering around with cc305 & 306's, hot cams, etc..
until they also upgrade. minis, super rams, and LT1's

I would recommend the LPE 74219 cam, 219/219@.050 .525/.525 with 1.6 rockers. This is a very versatile cam that can be used with a TPI, SR or MR. A friend with a 383,MR,Ported Edelbrocks and the LPE 219/219 cam ran high 11.50's.

In my opinion the 305 or 306 might be too much cam.

The nice thing about the HOT cam is that it's disposable. $180 for a roller cam is cheap, and the cam seems to perform.

The LSA on the 219 cam is 112 degs. The lift on that cam is .525 with 1.5 rockers and .560 with 1.6. My mistake.
