Funny shift points???
Funny shift points???
Most of the time my car will shift properly but once in a while it will shift late into first and rev real high and other times it revs high as it shifts into second. Almost like it slips out of gear for a second but I dont lose speed or power. ( Its an automatic)
Could my T V cable be out of adjustment and how do you adjust it if that could be the problem? Thanks for any suggestions

most likely you have a 4l60(700r4). tv cable adjust is simply if you want to keep stock shift points. push button in on adjuster and push cable housing towards firewall. with engine off simply push your foot on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and the cable will self adjust. you can FINE TUNE if you want by taking the car out and incrementally adjusting the cable. very little adjustment will tailor firmness and shift point. methinks there may be more going on however. tv boost valve is problem with these boxes as is governor. governor is not too involved, but boost valve will require more work. does it do it more when cold? if so could be seals are going bad(typical if box has over 85-90k), or sounds silly but how is fluid? Gm sells at dealership a seal conditioner under GM part number which will add more swell agent to the fluid and tighten seals. good luck
I've noticed some odd shifting in my 92 T/A as well... really odd at low speeds. Let's say I'm coasting along, maybe 20-30 mph, not touching the gas. When I press the gas pedal, the engine retains a high idle for a second, then the tranny shifts to a gear that seems to low.... i.e. coasting with rpm's at around 1200, then shifts to maybe 2nd gear, rpm's drop to around 800. Might be something wrong, might not be... just feels weird. Also, is anyone familiar with the proper idle speed for an LB9? Seems that mine is idling a bit high (1200 rpm), and I can't find much info on adjustment and such. TIA!!
Yeah Danno, Its a little worse when cold but not by much. As soon as it gets a little warmer outside (snowing now) I will try to adjust the tv Cable to make sure its in stock position.
Cargasm mine is doing the same thing although i never checked the rpms as it happens but next time I will.
Thanks !!!
