Help with oil filters please

Hey guys, I rebuilt myself a 350 tpi with some goodies and I'm trying to make sure it stays well protected. I ordered some Royal Purple oil filters before the job and never opened them till today. I bought the Royal Purple 10-454 filter (short style) and have always ran the longer style (10-47 part number).

I'm wondering if there's a difference or if anyone has something similar? Everything I read is the longer style was typically for trucks but people running the shorter ones with headers have noticed higher oil temps.

Thank you for any help!

(PS, I did do a search on this topic before posting and found nothing - please don't yell at me)

Re: Help with oil filters please

Running the longer filter just gives you a little extra oil capacity.
I prefer the longer filters myself.

As far as higher oil temps, my main gripe is where the y-pipe crosses under the oil pan, almost touching..
To me, it's like that old Mobil 1 commercial where they had 2 frying pans of oil on the stove - 1 synthetic and 1 conventional oil.
I am going to try to do "something" to minimize that problem.
