Missfire after distributor removal

Can't figure this one out, I removed the distributor in my 88 iroc 350 so I could replace the oilpressure gauge sender.
When i put it back together I've got a miss. Yes i've set the timing correctly and the plug leads are all connected to the correct plugs. This is where it gets strange I pulled the plug wires from the left bank one at a time and they are all firing correctly. For the right hand side I had to pull the plug wires from the distributor cap (car has been converted to right hand drive) when I remove any plug wire from the right bank there is less impact than the left bank its as though they are all half working. I replaced the distributor cap but it made no difference. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Missfire after distributor removal

Remove distributor cap, set the motor to top dead center on number 1 cylinder (0 degrees on the timing mark) and see where your rotor is pointing. It should be pointed towards number 1 cylinder (between 5-6 o'clock). If it isn't then your distributor is off by a tooth. If it's pointed around 11-12 o'clock then your distributor is out 180 degrees. Also make sure your wires are in the right order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
