Misfiring and Check Engine Light. Missing connections?

Hi all, I am new here and just bought my first third gen the other day. I have attached pictures of my 1986 Iroc with a 5.0 Stock. I don't know if the attached pictures are causing the problems but I can't find what they are in the manual or the haynes repair book. Should they be connected? What are they? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It’s esc for knock retard control. Yes connect them.

As for the misfire you should start with tuneup items. Plugs, wires , cap /rotor. You can get plug wire pliers that are insulated to pull off one wire at a time to try to borrow down the effected cylinder.

Great thanks. The check engine light is on so I am going to scan to see what code pops. I was thinking it might be the ignition control module.
