Which Cap and Rotor and Ignition Coil Should I Use?

I'm planning to do my spark plugs next weekend, I am going to use NGK shorty plugs and Taylor 8mm wires. Right now the car has the standard Delco plugs and Taylor 8mm wires. I was going to use the replacement ACDelco Cap and Rotor but I found a few old threads of people saying it's better to use a brass cap and that the regular cap they had failed on them after 1000 miles. I'm not sure if they mean the ACDelco cap or another brand.

Regarding brass caps, I've found the Duralast Gold, the Standard Ignition Blue Streak and United Motor Products (not familiar this brand). I was leaning towards the stock Delco or the Standard Ignition if people recommend brass (I like the blue color).

What ignition coil should I use? I was leaning toward NGK or the Standard Ignition.

I'm pretty sure everything on my car is ACDelco, it's a black cap with the original Delco cover over the ignition coil.

I would recommend you stay with GM for the cap/rotor and ign coil. Whatever you get, I do not recommend getting an MSD cap. I had problems with MSD. I actually have a Mallory cap and coil that I bought from on member on another forum. I agree that caps with brass contacts last longer. Just don't get MSD. Good Luck.

10-4. I'll just get the Delco cap and rotor.

I second with going with the GM replacement parts. I figure they engineered the car, so they probably know what s best for it lol!

I would add that while I lean to AC Delco GM original parts, remember that the original parts were all made by divisions that were spun off as Delphi. For example, I tried to get "original" spark plug wires from AC Delco, but they didn't have the button on top of the distributor end boots that fit into the retainer on the top of the cap. I bought from another company that builds with the Delphi / Packard wire and ends.
AC Delco now purchases certain parts from outside suppliers and they may not always be the same as original.
