Turboing a 350 TPI

I want to single eBay turbo my 1987 Trans Am (350 TPItTPI paired to a 700r4) and take it to the dragstrip till it blows. It has 68500mi on the engine. I know I'd need a turbo and all the plumbing and then some kind of piggybacked ECU. Anyone know if this has been done before? Eventually I want to go turbo or procharged LS, but that would require a whole drivetrain swap and I jsut want something fun to take to the strip for a few years or so. How could I go about Turboing it?

Yeah its been done many times over lol

get a turbo and fab up the piping. Or look into one of the china kits and seeing if it would work. Cx racing makes some kits

ecu can be a 730 ecm from a 91-92 and run boosted $8D code or $58/$59. I like $59

Or you can go EBL so you have flash based tuning and it supports up to a 3bar MAP.

Was actually surprised to see the Code59.org website up and running again. If you're reading this Paul, that is fantastic. But yeah, EBL or Code 59 will be extremely viable solutions for fueling and spark control. Just be sure to have enough injector flow for your needs....

I am running Bosch 3 22lbs replacements. I am Currently running a Vortech that sees about 5PSI max (6PSI Kit)... headers, roller 1.6 ratio rockers. Once I installed my EBL and started tuning, when I got to WOT it was running the injectors up to 100%DC and slightly above. (Regulator steps up fuel pressure with boost).

I then went back and turned my base pressure up to 50PSI and am workign through the VE, timing, and AE right now and moving toward WOT logs again.

You factory pump/injectors will only give you so much fuel regardless of how much air your shove in. So plan some fuel system upgrades as part of your boost. Also, as boost increases so does resistance to spark jumping the gaps, put an MSD 6 or equivalent in the plan for a bit more spark energy. .

Also be aware valvefloat may become more prevalent with more boost. Old springs are weak and boost pressure can lead to some float, sometimes valve bounce from exhaust back pressure. My 305 saw this but also may have had spark issues
