Well, I’m finally tearing my L98 apart to replace the fuel injectors, and it’s a real mess.
Half of the runner bolts I discovered are missing, most notably, the two that go in from behind.
I also discovered that 19 lb/Hr Rochester injectors had been installed, and based on the dirt going all the way to the bottom of the injector bores, I suspect they came from a junkyard, and were installed without lubrication, or even new O-rings. I’ve found potential air leaks everywhere.
The injectors themselves were a mess. One tip was broken, another cracked, and I’m honestly surprised it was running at all.
I have new Delphi drop in replacements, 22 lb/ hr, that I got from Southbay. I have high hopes that the car will run much better once they’re in, and things are put together properly.
Those look pretty terrible. The Delphi's are a nice quality injector that should work great for you. While you are in there, I would also recommend getting a fuel rail o-ring kit and a new fuel pressure regulator and rebuilding the fuel rail assembly. Southbay also carries the o-rings and fuel pressure regulator.
