Fuel Pressure Regulator - 65 PSI
Hey, I don’t know if I’m over thinking this. But been having a fuel delivery problem. L89 87 Style Tpi. (Frankenstein build) I had a Bbk adjustable fuel pressure regulator that had a bad diaphragm. Couldn’t get consistent pressure at the rail. It was all over the map. I found an ORM Styler FPR around the shop and went ahead and put it in. But now I’m getting 65 psi at the rail on prime, it will start and run for a few minutes but then fouls the plugs and dies. Just got done building the motor, trying to get it broke in. I’ve blown out both lines with an air compressor. It’s a new fuel pump. But it’s not like a high flow or anything. I haven’t clamped the return lines yet and primed the pump yet. I’m at work and I his is just eating at me. Would a faulty FPR be the culprit here? Also there is no fuel running out the vacuum line off the FPR when it’s running. Before I went out and bought a diaphragm or another FPR. My brain looks just isn’t working today and was seeing if anyone can help clear it up. Appreciate it.
p.s if I do need to get another FPR, what are your recommendations? I have the BBK one still, just needs a diaphragm. But I’m not entirely too impressed by it honestly. Running 24 lb injectors, so I shouldn’t need anymore then stock pressure. Just keep the original FPR and get a new diaphragm? Appreciate the input. First TPI build. Not the first sbc build, but first time working with the Tpi.

pretty much either your FPR is bad if it is really the correct OEM type, not set correctly if adjustable, or you have a block somewhere in the return circuit

29.3#hr with increase pressure will really require ecm tuning.
