Tpi questions

Hey guys, im looking at getting a new 3rdgen, but this one is an l98 88 iroc, but im having some second thoughts.. as ive seen some of you get really good MPG and some dont, and some have nothing but problems etc... on the average, how well will these cars perform everyday, and how long will the engines last? The car has a 700r4, and im really an easy driver except when i see the occasional *****.. whats a good price for an 88 iroc l98? it has the 5 spoke iroc rims, and is overall in good condition, with 111k miles...

Funny you should mention. I just bought an 88 IROC 350 TPI for 2700. lol exactly 111k on it when I got it. I've had it since the 10th of this month. This one seems like its been well taken care of and runs great. I hope it lasts. I believe the book value on it is around 3400. Its a coupe. Power windows, power door locks. It has the 5 spoke wheels you mentioned and it had a new paint job. Give it a good drive Hope it works out.

Tuned Port Injection (TPI) is a great technology in terms of fuel efficiency for performance power. You get a large portion of the benefits of an econo-car as well as all the horsepower and torque of a sports car wrapped into one system.

They function perfectly as a daily driver, but are of course more performance oriented, so don't expect the idle to be as stable or quiet as say... a Civic or Maxima... but they are just as reliable if well maintained (as any engine type). You won't be spending anymore (or less) than anyone else on repair work for computer cars... these engines will go to 160,000+ before needing a rebuild if properly cared for, the service life is amazing.

An '88 IROC-Z 5.7 w/ 111,000 miles on it can go for anywhere from $2500-$5000.
