Home Grown Port and Polish

I seen a really good port and polish kit, for sale on the internet that gives you good instructions, and hints and tips, about how to do it right. But i was wondering if it would work that good? it said many factory engines made in the us are made with careless casting procedures that result in flashing or blobs of metal in the intakes and such. I seen a picture of a 305 camaro engine in a chevy magazine that made exaclty the same point, there was like a 1/4 by 1/3 inch blob in the intake.

how much of a torque, hp gain could you expect through the entire prm range? i heard you may actualy lose some low end torque if you grind too much.
thanks for your time.

on stock heads you can't possibly grind enough to loose TQ that would be of any concern.

When you loose tq is at the 190-200cc range

Cleanup work ALWAYS helps, but is the time money and labor worth it on stock heads? thats a matter of personal opninion.

If i was to do it to stock heads, it wouldn't be your standard LB9/L98 heads, i'd get some vette aluminums or vortecs or something that will make power gains in the design alone. That way you KNOW you'll have a pay off.
