The only benefit I see going with a 350 memcal is the right knock filter.
Hey Brian. This is interesting to me as I have my 355 running on a 305 base and the knock stuff isn't great. Does it matter what actual physical memcal I use as a base? Excuse me if I get some of the terminology wrong.

Thanks

This is speed density, a lot of mafs use the same esc module for different bore sizes and a different 100k ks based of heads and if roller or not i think. You could look at different applications and the ks part number on RockAuto. Not sure if you are getting false know that would be something to look into. Speed density uses a knock filter on the memcal unlike maf that uses the esc module .

i know obd1 is old so ill just state these 2 things when hooking up the mt2500 you hooked to the diag link under dash and you plugged the power cord to the battery and the scanner did not turn on at all ??? did you try the scantool on your buddys car to check if it is working correctly ? also make sure the wires at the aldl are not pulled out or broken and sometimes especially on chrysler i have to wiggle the plug to get it to work

The hold down bolt for my distributor is either too long or stripped.. found the Distributor loose and up a quarter inch

I think it was tight enough in the boar that when I checked it initially it did not spin and the time it happened to be in the right spot

Good find. There is a variable that not many would have guessed. The confounding thing is that the scanner will not communicate, which certainly doesn't point to a timing problem.

I'm still confused why it won't communicate, but as others have mentioned. Could be a bad connection or a pin in the ALDL loose / pushed out the back, or that the aftermarket chip just isnt compatible to communicate... I'll check into those later. But yeah I shouldn't be surprised.. whoever worked on this car before me was a complete hack and had no place working on cars.
I just wish I found it before I ripped it all apart.
