'85 TPI system onto '91 TBI engine issues

Ok, if I take an '85 TPI system and try to put it on a 91 TBI 305, what problems will I hit?

*Center intake bolts. I know about this one.

*What about the distributor? Does the '85 distributor have to go with the '85 computer, or will the '91 TBI distributor work with it?

*I know the '85 computer sucks, but this engine is stock and I'm not into prom burning.

*What about fuel lines? I will have the donor car so how hard will it be to use the '85 fuel lines?

*The fuel pumps need to be swapped too right?

*Oh another thing, the '91 is a 5 speed and the '85 is an automatic, so will the computer throw a tissy, or will it just not care? What about a VSS signal on the '85 system?

VSS is a seperate box on the 85. On the 91 TPI ECMs, it is built in.
I am not too sure about the 91 TBI ECM, it could be built in as well. If you have to, take the box from the 85 and use it in your 91. It's a small yellow box with 2 Edge connectors on it, one 2 pin and one 4 pin.

Splice the wires from the VSS sender on the tranny to the VSS Buffer box. Speedo should work fine after that.

Not sure about the other questions though.

Basically, the entire fuel and computer system will have to be taken from the donor car. Fuel lines, fuel pump, distributor, and computer and wiring are all different. If you can find it, you will be much better off with an 86' or later computer setup, but if you can't get it, the 85' will do. Also, if you want to keep the 5-speed, you will a flywheel off an 85' or earlier car that had a one peice rear main seal like your 85' motor. The electronics will work fine without the auto being there. Good luck.

I'm going to be keeping the '91 motor, I'm just swapping the tpi system. The motor in my car is a brand new GM motor. I might put the '85 motor in my s10.

That's right, you did say you were just swapping the TPI system and not the entire engine. Then you don't have to wory about the flywheel.
