Porting the plenum

I wasn't going to worry about this, I figured I'd just get around to getting a superram before long. But now I might be waiting, so I figured why not port the spare plenum I have laying around.

I'm pretty sure this is what I have to do seeing as I've read it plenty of times on here. I'm just looking for a little reassurance.

Here's my questions.

The wall surrounding the hole. Sort of at an angle open smaller and ending wider as it goes through the plenum. In picture, surrounded by yellow. This needs to be all one size and flush correct?

Second, the walls at the bottom surrounded by the white. These also need to be flush with the opens. Correct?

Also, if there are any dangers of going through anything around here, please tell me. Not sure how fast this little carbide tip will be cutting.

The only real danger spot is the outer wall on each side, just inside the two openings. It looks like you should be able to grind it down just like the egr walls on the bottom. But the casting is very thin and you have to be careful not to go through. All of your other ideas were correct. Just watch the side walls.

Here are some pics of what I did to mine (gotta actually go to the site - my good site that hosts is down and geocities won't host pics ):

Like Nick said, use caution on the side walls, but you can remove a lot of material. Check out the technical article on this site as well.

Good Luck!!

You'll need an aluminum die grinder bit (so not to load up a regular die grinder bit). These bits can EAT up aluminum fast, so go easy and never let the grinder sit in one place.

Best of luck to ya
