super ram plenum and runner kit

i'm thinking about putting on the super ram plenum and runner kit...i haven't yet changed the manifold base, eventually i'll get to it, but in the meantime...would changing over the plenum and runners give me any kind of gain....engine is a stock 5.0 TPI in an 88 Trans Am...any help would be appreciated....thanks!

I really think a super ram is major overkill for a stock 305, and with a stock base, it'll be basically pointless. I suspect that the short runner design will hurt low end torque, and the stock intake will prevent major gains at higher rpm.

It's also important to remember that the 305 won't need as much air at high rpm as a 350, so something like SLP runners and a new base would be money better spent.

The stock TPI base is the worst restriction in the stock TPI system on any engine.

Past that, runners are still not necessary until you're really into the car w/ a 305.

I put my SuperRam plenum and runners on my stock slightly ported base just for the hell of it one time.
It did nothing. The car was actually slower since i lost some bottom end with the shorter runners and got nothing extra in the high end cause of the base.
Like they said, wait till you have a base too. And, i agree your 305 probobly doesn't need a SR.
