Help! My car died this morning

For the last month or so my car has been running kinda bad, it hesitates and chokes when i accelerate and also idles very rough.
Well i havent been able to figure out what is wrong. THis morning on the way to work i stopped at a stop sign and it started sputtering and dropped down to 300rpm and when i stopmed on the gas pedal nothing happened and it finally just cut off and would not start again for about 20 minutes. After i got it started i made it to work about 1/2 a mile away and it did the same thing. It will run for a minute , sputter for a few seconds then cut off. Can somebody maybe give me some suggestions on whats wrong Thanks!

When was the last time you had a tune-up? Sounds like that may be your probelm, also do you have an external coil? You might want to check that ignition module under the cap... it may be going bad. I had something similar to that, my car died, but it woudln't start after it died and i pulled the cap and changed ignition module and its been runnin smooth ever since!

It has new plugs and wires.... It started running bad after i put my transmission back in. Would that throttle position cable have any thing to do with it running bad. I started it again this afternoon and drove it about 5 miles and it never cut off, so i dunno... Ill check that ignition module. Does anyone think it could be a sensor of some kind?, i dont really know jack about fuel injection systems and all this computer business.

IAC (Idle Air Control Sensor) It's a sensor on the Throttle Body that controles the idle. Should be really easy to fix when you buy the sensor and find where it goes.

you might want to check to see if you are getting good fuel pressure WHILE the problem is occuring. carry a fuel pressure gauge with you to see if your pressure is dropping during the problem. if so your pump could be on its way out. i dont see it being the fuel filter, but stranger things have happened, plus it is cheap so you might want to change that anyways.
