What year heated O2 sensor are you guys running?

Since I got the new injectors in and the BLM's are where they need to be, the motor takes a good bit longer to get into closed loop (not running lean anymore, hence cooler exhaust) - I have hedman headers and the O2 sensor is in the collector, so I know that is a factor. Want to go with a heated O2 sensor.

And correct me if I am wrong please, but the other two wires for the O2 sensor are the power (hooked up to a 'key on' source), and a basic ground.

Anyone have the GM part number or an aftermarket part/mfg that you recommend?

TIA

I told the dealer I wanted an oxygen sensor for a ZR1 corvette. Since they had it in stock, I'm guessing it's an extremely common part. My dealer hasn't even ever seen a ZR1, nevermind sold or serviced one. :sillylol:

And yeah, the 2 white wires are power and ground, and are interchangable. There's a thread going on about how to wire it in, so I'd do a search. I'm sure it'll be helpful when it comes time to install it.

Thanks very much.

I will search for that thread, seem to remember it..............something about wiring it into the fuel pump circuit.

Yup, that's it. The fuel pump is how I wired it, but others have done it differently. Since the stock wire runs right into the harness at the brake booster, the fuel pump relay made a lot more sense to me than to try and chase wires all over the engine bay or into the interior.

And with it 'sharing' the fuel pump circuit, no problems with low fuel pump voltage?

Thanks!

I've had no problems. The oxygen sensor draws very little current, so it's well within the capabilities of the relay to supply both circuits.

The cheapest one I found was from a 1991 S10. It is an Ac delco part number, AFS-74, GM # 25312179. There is a few of them around the AFS-74, like AFS-73, 72, 75, etc. The only difference is the plug on the end.

As for power, run a seperate ign fuzed wire. No sense introducing a problem with your fuel pump. Granted it would be rare, but why take the chance of causing a problem with your fuel pump.

CAr operates without an O2. Not without a fuel pump.

Mark.
